Boston’s Frontman Tom Scholz to Pay ‘Boston Herald’ $132,163.89…

Tom Scholz, leader of Boston, recently lost a defamation lawsuit against the Boston Herald and its writers Gayle Fee and Laura Raposa for the article “Pal’s Snub Made Delp Do it: Boston Rocker’s Ex-Wife Speaks.” Scholz claimed comments in the story blamed him for former frontman Brad Delp‘s suicide in 2007.

However, Suffolk Superior Court Judge Frances A. McIntyre ruled that the Herald could not be held liable for defaming Scholz since the actual cause of Delp’s suicide is impossible to determine. Instead, Scholz was ordered to pay the newspaper $132,163.89 to cover court costs.
