Seattle-based music startup Lively has announced the appointments of Brian Hirsh as its first chief music officer, Abe Claiborne as vice president of Artist and Label Relations, and Geoff Walker as chief marketing officer. The staff expansion is a reflection of Lively’s growth, following a recent oversubscribed seed funding round.
Brian Hirsh has more than 15 years of experience in the music industry and most recently served as chief creative officer for the Mirrored Media. He was also senior vice president at PlayNetwork and is the founder/president of Retail Entertainment Design.
Abe Claiborne has more than 16 years of experience in the industry, previously serving as chief operating officer of D.C. Hardcore. Claiborne has also developed music strategy for major brands, such as American Eagle and Harley Davidson.
Geoff Walker has played an integral role in the entertainment, technology, and sports industries, having worked with Microsoft, RealNetworks, T-Mobile, e2k Sports, and DirecTV Sports/ROOT Sports.
AdsWizz, a global technology provider for audio advertising in radio and audio, has hired former Skype executive Don Albert as North American President. Albert was previously Skype’s VP and GM of the Americas and Advertising.
Mitchel Wolk has been named CFO at SONGS Music Publishing. Wolk is a veteran label executive and has served as president and CEO of Alternative Distribution Alliance (ADA).
Paul Robinson is the new CEO of the Radio Academy. With more than 30 years of experience in broadcasting, Robinson will be responsible for working with the Board of Trustees to develop and execute the charity’s strategic and commercial direction.
Kobalt Music Group has appointed Sue Drew as GM of creative acquisitions in the US. Drew was former ASCAP SVP of membership and has held executive position at Elektra, Chrysalis/EMI and Reprise.
Last but not least, Rhapsody president Jon Irwin is being let go, along with 15% of the staff. More details on those shifts here.
