Live Nation-owned Ticketmaster has acquired Eventjoy, a free ticket-selling service and events management app. Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
Eventjoy allows users to sell tickets to events at no cost. It’s even free for paid events, due to money raised from investors. The service has web and mobile event management apps and provides apps for attendees and event websites. They plan to eventually charge for premium features.
Eventjoy says the acquisition will give them more resources, allowing them to “empower a larger number of people”. Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino said:
“The DIY space is one where we think Eventjoy’s leading mobile-first solution can be combined with the scale of our platform and distribution capabilities”
The service launched in 2013 and was backed by Y Combinator. Clients include the UP Summit and TEDx.
