SFX Entertainment-owned Beatport has acqui-hired social listening app Listn for an undisclosed amount. The app will be shut down on October 30th, and has already been removed from the App Store. Listn’s staff is joining Beatport.
Listn allowed users to explore their friends music libraries, connecting to YouTube, Hype Machine, Spotify, Rdio, Spotify, and SoundCloud.
Last year, Listn raised $500,000 in seed funding. They have around 400,000 registered users.
Listn Co-Founder and CEO Mike Schmidt says:
“Beatport is the largest electronic music community in the world. We are a part of their incredible goal to round out the end-to-end experience, from live events to digital music. Now more than ever, we are focused on building a community for people from all walks of life, united by music.”
This is the latest step in SFX’s plan to acquire practically every electronic music oriented company. How is this strategy going? Last quarter they had a net loss of $43.7 million.
