Viacom Reaches Settlement in Unpaid Intern Case

The latest update in a string of lawsuits filed by unpaid interns comes from Viacom.

Viacom is the fifth largest broadcasting company. They own MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount, and CMT (to name a few). Casey O’Jeda, a former unpaid MTV intern, filed a lawsuit against Viacom in August, 2013. The lawsuit claimed that Viacom hired unpaid interns to replace paid workers. Over 300 other former unpaid interns joined the lawsuit.

On December 31st attorneys said a settlement had been reached.

Details of the agreement have not been disclosed, and some parts of the agreement are still being worked out.
