Selfie Sticks Banned at O2 Academy and Wembley Arena…

This is guaranteed to be the first of many selfie stick bans at public places.  Here’s a statement just issued to NME by the UK-based Academy Music Group, which controls the O2 Academy Brixton, London’s O2 Arena and SSE Wembley Arena.

“Selfie Sticks are not permitted at Academy Music Group venues.  This is in keeping with our existing policy that prohibits the filming and photography during a performance with iPads and other tablet devices and includes any such obstructions for the satisfaction of other customers.”

Meanwhile, the entire country of South Korea has just banned all unauthorized selfie stick sales.

I’m sure people will still bring them in…probably positioning them as a walking stick or cane for the disabled.
