Kendrick Lamar Sued for Copyright Infringement…

Photographer Giordano Cipriani has sued Kendrick Lamar, Top Dawg Entertainment, Interscope, and Aftermath records for copyright infringement.

Cipriani says his photograph “Twins” is being used without permission in the artwork for Lamar’s song “The Blacker the Berry”. Cipriani says he took the photo in Ethiopia in 2011, and Lamar never even asked for permission to use it.

Lamar’s use of the photo first appeared in a YouTube video of “The Blacker the Berry” posted by Top Dawg. This video was viewed over 10 million times. The same video also appeared on Lamar and Interscope’s YouTube channels.

Cipriani says he is entitled to compensation, and is asking for $150,000 for each use as well as attorney’s fees.
