Step One: Access Blog List, Log In

To access the blogs section go to http://www.digitalmusicnews.com/blog/entry_listing

(this will open in a separate window so that you can follow along with the faq)

Make sure to enter your login name and password on the left.

Step Two: Add a new blog

All bloggers are a member of a group at Digital Music News that are given permission to add a new blog entry and publish it to the website. If you have been added to our DMN Bloggers group you should see green tabs on top of the content area. If you don’t see the green tabs contact support@digitalmusicnews.com and let us know.

Click on the “entries” tab and then click on the "add entry” button.

Step Four: Edit your blog entry

Once you have clicked on “entry” you will be taken to a form that includes the following:

1. Entry ID: add a short name for your blog entry, keep this as short and descriptive as possible.  The short name is what you see at the end of the url bar (e.g. http://www.digitalmusicnews.com/blog/myblogentry)
2. Title: Enter the title of your entry
3. Body: Enter your content – The visual editor works like a mini version of Microsoft Word (see more details below). Enter your content into the “body” section of the form.






4. Categories:There are established categories, you must select one for your entry.
5. Save: When you click on save your blog is saved in the “private” state. Private state means the item is only viewable to you when you are logged in.
   
   
   

Using the Visual Editor

The Visual Editor works much like Microsoft Word. Most of the buttons are self-explanatory. The “B” for bold, “I” for italics, etc.

There are three buttons in the editor that need a little explanation:

If you would like to add an image, please send the image to support@digitalmusicnews.com first. Then, you'll be able to locate the image using this button.

If you would like to add a link use this button.

Step Five: Save or Publish

Once you have completed your post click on state in the green bar and select publish from the state drop down. This will add your post to the blog portlet on the home page.

If you would like to retract your post to make changes. Select "make private" from the drop down and then "publish" to repost your entry.
