The Tisch School of the Arts seeks applications for the Chair of The Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music, at the rank of an Associate or Full Arts Professor to commence in Fall of 2009.
The School is searching for a dynamic music industry professional with creative vision and a track record of entrepreneurship in the commercial music industry (rock, pop, hip-hop, r&b, etc.). The Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music is the first program of its kind in the world to offer aspiring creative entrepreneurs training in production, business, and history and criticism, culminating in a B.F.A. in Recorded Music.
Advances in digital technologies have transformed traditional approaches to creating and selling recorded music. The School seeks a forward-thinking candidate who recognizes the music industry’s potential and can translate that vision into the continued development of this groundbreaking academic program.
The position requires strong administrative skills, teaching experience or demonstrated potential to succeed in a classroom environment, the desire to mentor students and advocate on their behalf, and a commitment to the development of faculty and curriculum. An advanced degree, though welcome, is not a requirement for an Arts Professor position at the Tisch School of the Arts. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
