MySpace Music is a newly created joint venture between MySpace.com and a host of the world’s largest music content partners.  Music has been a primary bloodline of MySpace.com since its inception and remains its cornerstone entertainment channel today, allowing over 5 million artists big and small to establish direct relationships with fans and virally market their content.  Already the most highly-trafficked music website with 30 million unique users, MySpace Music aims to leverage its existing audience and artist base and, in partnership with the major, indie, and unsigned artist communities, deliver a 360-degree music experience allowing users to enjoy the most robust repository of ad-supported audio and music video on the web as well as one-stop shopping for all music-related e-commerce.  This position reports to the Vice President of Finance, MySpace.  MySpace Music is headquartered alongside MySpace.com in Beverly Hills, CA.

This role will be the finance lead for the joint venture, reporting into MySpace finance with dotted line to JV leadership.  Key objectives will be financial reporting, establishing operational finance processes, analyzing operating performance, preparing budgets, forecasts, long-range financial plans; analyses of capital expenditures, operating metrics and other ad hoc items to add value and maximize operating results; and working closely with MySpace finance and accounting to track, report and pay all royalty obligations to JV partners.  This position has potential for rapid growth as the organization scales, including building a team of finance and accounting resources as needed.  Proven ability to prepare rigorous financial models and analysis, and make presentations at an executive level.    Emphasis on creating and putting in place reporting, processes and procedures to support and scale the finance function as it grows with the business.


Qualifications:
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in corporate financial planning and analysis
  • Music industry/royalty experience required
  • Experience in the Internet/Media industry a plus
  • Strong analytical and organization skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work and think independently
  • Experience with contracts and deal structuring
  • Ability to interface effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Strong systems skills, especially MS Office Suite (advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills required)
  • Experience with Great Plains and/or Oracle a plus
  • Ability to work with a team in high growth, dynamic environment a must
