Shopping for wax this holiday season?  Try putting the Record Store Locator from the Vinyl District into your pocket.  The iOS or Android app locates vinyl shops in your geo-surroundings.  Check your local app store, or this site.

Friday was Beethoven's 241st birthday, but what was life like for a freakishly brilliant freelancer living in a patronge model?  Glad you asked.

So, what's the best cheap seat strategy, anyway?  A pair ofresearchers at PRS for Music just dove into nuances of nosebleeds, including GroupLive, here

Brian Wilson is reuniting the Beach Boys, according to word on Friday.  The global, 50-date tour starts in April, and a new album is also on the way.

Apple's been stumbling on its global iTunes Match rollout.  Signups were halted midstream to handle demand, and there were even premature launches heading into the Friday splash.  The move outside of US and Brazil includes Australia, Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Mexico, New Zealand, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland and the UK.

The House Judiciary Committee continued its back-and-forth on SOPA on Friday, and discussions will resume on Wednesday.  Initially, it was thought that discussions were on hiatus until next year, though Representative Lamar Smith has now scheduled a near-term continuation of the hearing.  Meanwhile, Wikipedia is still threatening to go dark in protest.

TargetSpot will soon deliver in-stream audio ads for the Spanish Broadcasting System, thanks to a deal finalized this week.

Spotify Radio is being powered by The Echo Nest, it was revealed on Friday.

Zynga bombed in IPO trading on Friday, dropping 5 percent below its strike to end at $9.50.

The next New Music Seminar (NMS) is now slated for June 16-21, 2012, in New York.

Tech blogs are reporting Darrell Issa's tweet that the SOPA committee hearings will resume 9 am Wednesday December 21, rather than waiting until Congress returns in January 2012.
