Grooveshark is becoming a major problem for many artists and labels. And as of today, the company is getting sued by every major label. Yet Grooveshark still counts 865 different label partners. And just last week, Grooveshark inked licensing deals with five new labels, specifically American Myth Recordings, Partisan Records, Daly City Records, Zodlounge and Foundation Media. "We're thrilled to be working with Grooveshark," stated J.J. Jensen, President of Foundation Media. "We've heard nothing but good things and are excited to get our clients' music into their system."
The latest batch adds to this roster tally, supplied by Grooveshark to Digital Music News in late September. This week, the company declined to offer anything more updated, or even verify the earlier number.

becuase the list of labels is a lie... the once claimed they had a deal with merlin who represents those labels, but merlin never did a deal with grooveshark, they were only discussing the POTENTIAL of a deal.. grooveshark none the less ran with the lis of merlins labels, which is false.

I know 4 of the lables listed here personally and not only are they not grooveshark 'partners' but they would actively sue the service if they had the spare cash to do it.

If your friends are based in the US, they don't need any spare cash. Lots of laywers to take over in exchange for a nice cut after they win (and they will, you have to be blind, deaf and mute to lose this case!).

ok ok obviously i don't want the Grooveshark staff to die in a fire. that would be too easy. ok, leave the post boy/girl or the interns out of it. they get off with 50 lashes. non management permanent staff - 50 lashes plus they lose the first and second fingers from each hand and one ear. management - they need to be kept alive somehow while burning so we can record several albums worth of their screams to upload to Grooveshark. I work for one of the labels mentioned in that list. 486 DMCA notices *and counting* sent from our laywer to them during the last 12 months. Yes, you read that right. Four hundred and eighty six DMCA notices, all from one single label. Every time they take the tracks down for a while and then automatically put them up again. And after the first 40 notices or so, they started calling our lawyer names, mocking him a la Pirate Bay style, telling him that he "is not experienced enough to understand a business opportunity".

Shutting down Grooveshark isn't going to matter in the long-term. It is only going to piss people off even more than they already are about the greed in the industry. People aren't going to go running to the nearest record store or Walmart to buy your albums, if they're even in stock. They're going to go to your other friend Megaupload, and if that gets shut down then they're going to go to Mediafire. Or they'll go to Spotify who you are already bitching about too.
There will always be a service.

AndyDexter, yeah, they kind of are going to have to take it. They need to adopt. The consumers won this battle. The labels lost. Tech companies won. Music discovery is better now than it was ever before, because people aren't locked out of being able to listen to what they want. Suing isn't going to change that.
