Music was the second most-funded category behind Film & Video last year, according to stats just shared by Kickstarter. In total, music projects rallied $19,801,685 (and 21 cents), a healthy chunk of the nearly $100 million in pledges in 2011. That is more than triple the volume from 2010, though we don't have a music-specific breakdown from last year.

Not all of those pledges turned into green lights, though a substantial amount of pledged money was collected. "84 percent of dollars pledged on Kickstarter are eventually collected," Kickstarter cofounder Yancey Strickler shared. Again, no music-specific stats, however.
Here's the ranking of 13 different categories from last year, in terms of total pledges.

Actually Warner uses Kickstarter also. It's just that it's a different version.
I think their version is called "Massively Leverage Bailed Out Banks"

I wonder how many of them realize that monies raised are taxable and have completed IRS Form 1099-K or duly reported and paid their sales tax? If not, could come as a big shock.

Any stats on the median/distribution of these funds across the music projects? Meaning, how much went to a couple big projects, or was it pretty uniform?
