Case in point: a lot of artist marketing executives were seething after the shutdown of OnSmash, an important promotional outlet for rappers and urban artists.

Now, someone's saying it out loud about SOPA. In a surprising 'AMA' [or, 'Ask Me Anything'] forum on Reddit, Capitol Records (EMI) Vice President of Urban Promotions Craig Davis had this to say in response to the question,

As I've posted endlessy elswhere and there and there...
Lots of these
industry folks need to let go of the nineteenth century, take an
economics course or two and learn a few things about marketing and
consumer culture.
The industry also needs to stop this business of "upgrading" every three weeks. Max it out, get right and move on! It makes purchasing feel like a rental ,market.
