Bandcamp is now introducing a long-awaited merchandise store to their list of artist services.  Artists can sell t-shirts, posters, and virtually anything else.  They can also customize the style of their page, and create special bundles of merchandise, or combinations of merch and music.  Bandcamp, in return, takes 10 percent of the revenue.

Russian feminist punk band Pussy Riot made international headlines when they performed a 'punk prayer' inside a Moscow cathedral, denouncing Vladimir Putin and the Church.  Their current fate of seven years of imprisonment (which has hit five months now) has evoked outcries from the international community.  Now, a number of significant British rockers have voiced their disapproval.  The Who's Pete Townsend, Pulp ex-frontman Jarvis Cocker, and Pet Shop Boy's Neil Tennant, amongst others, recently composed a letter to the Russian government which stated, "Dissent is a right in any democracy and it is entirely disproportionate that they face seven years in jail for what we consider a preposterous charge of 'hooliganism motivated by religious hatred'." Most recently, Putin, during a visit to the London Olympics, commented, "I do not think that they should be judged too severely for this."  Whatever the final outcome of this circus trial is, the world will be watching closely.

Remixers rejoice! Indaba Music, an online company that provides a collaborative environment for artists and musicians, has announced that it will release the stems (or individual tracks) from every song on Bon Iver's latest album, Bon Iver.  This is part of a Spotify-sponsored campaign that will ultimately result in a remix album exclusive to Spotify.  Each winner, besides having their music on the album, will also receive $1,000, courtesy of Spotify.  The competition ends on August 30th, so there's only a month to work.  Check out the Indaba Music website to sign up

Tickets for Aspen Live Conference 2012 are now on sale via Ticketfly.  The conference is a think-thank for various fields of entertainment such as music, sports, venue management, film, and much more.  This year’s music industry guests will include Nathan Hubbard, CEO of Ticketmaster, Nic Adler of The Roxy Theatre, and Dan Steinberg, amongst others.  Up until August 7th, early registrants can sign up for $150.  The conference, now in its 17th year, will be held at the St. Regis Resort and Limelight Lodge in Aspen, Colorado.

Eshac.com (Every Song Has A Chance) is a new social networking platform that gives any aspiring artist or musician the chance to land a record deal. The site implements a system that lets fans rate the music they like.  If an artist reaches a certain threshold of popularity based on their ratings, they automatically get a record deal.  Ben Bechar, Eschac's founder, said, "Currently, there are only a small number of people who decide what music gets signed and played, and a lot of the time it's only down to who has the right connections.  People aren't always getting signed for the right reasons. The solution was to give the music fans the ability to decide who gets signed."  For more information on the company, check out their website.

First Snoop Dogg (er... Lion), now Lil' Wayne?  The best-selling rapper, who is releasing new music this month as part of his Dedication mixtape series, says he wants to take a break from rapping.  In an interview Wednesday with DJ Drama on Atlanta's Hot 107.9,  Lil' Wayne said, "My artists have been doing awesome.  I believe the fans deserve some peace from me.  So I'll be on my skateboard in the meantime."  Lil' Wayne owns his own skater clothing line, TRUKFIT, which recently expanded to Macy's stores.

Ok Paul, I appreciate your attempt at humor, but.........

Pussy Riot Crowdfunding?  Bandcamp selling Pussy Riot lingerie? The CEO of Ticketmaster being honored at an event where tickets are available through TicketFly?

Where's Daniel Ek in all of this??????  Presenting an award to Stub Hub?  Oh sorry he's remixing the Bon Iver Thing.  Does their $1,000 prize get averaged in to their artists payouts?

Cause that's going to cause a spike in their numbers.

sorry, don't know whats' come over me.......
