What Else? Web-Based Spotify, Pandora's Pain, VMAs Plunge, McCartney, VEVO, tweetCommerce, NoFX...

Spotify is now brewing a browser-based version, according to details tipped by TechCrunch over the weekend.  US-based competitors like Rdio, MOG and Rhapsody have web-based versions, as well as overseas competitors like Deezer; then again, those competitors are way behind in this race.  A lower subscription price for Spotify mobile access may also be in the works.

This one's simple: Apple thinks about launching a Pandora competitor, and Wall Street panics.  Accordingly, shares of Pandora (P) dropped 17 percent to $10.47 on Friday, after briefly dipping sub-$10.

Missed MTV's Video Music Awards (VMAs)?  So did a lot of people: ratings on the broadcast plunged 50 percent from last year, with the Democratic National Convention (DNC) one obvious culprit.  The lingering question is whether the relevance of the VMAs is sliding; 6.1 million tuned in.

Let's hope he's not dead.  Sir Paul McCartney has now been inducted into the French Legion of Honor, the highest honor bestowed by France. McCartney was decorated with the rank of officer by French president Francois Hollande.

VEVO has just updated its iPad app.  Updates include improvements on Facebook sharing, the ability to build playlists and share them with friends, support for iTunes video match and Airplay.

Can you make money on Twitter?  Maybe, maybe not: Amanda Palmer pushed the platform with Chirpify to sell 320 t-shirts, and Green Day is now trying their luck.  But in the first few hours after posting a song for sale after a VMA performance, results were also pretty modest: on a follower group of two million, sales hit 250.  We'll have more results as they become available.

And, how do you feel about white genocide? The Canadian Immigration Report is advising that Canada ban NoFX, based on their age-old classic, 'Kill All the White Man.'  Looks like the band just played the Toronto-based Riot Fest...

A web based version of Spotify makes sense. A lot of people like to listen to music at work and needing an installed application on company computers is not practical.

    WHAT THE FUCK?

Do I have to immediatly report Digital Music News editors for linking an article of racist xenophobic blog that has nothing or too little to do with music ?

Fox TV is enough for xenophobic propaganda, don't need it on a music website.
