What Else? OneRepublic, Gaga's Piaf, Billie Joe, HFA, Latest Beats...

Ryan Tedder, OneRepublic's frontman, is now under scrutiny for 'creative originality.'  A seemingly common observation all across the board, Tedder's new single "Feel Again" sounds very similar to the 2008 "Dog Days are Over" by Florence + the Machine.  Apparently, Tedder has a knack for 'creatively recycling' material; among several examples, the backing track he created for Beyonce's "Halo" was exactly the same as the one he used for Kelly Clarkson's recording of "Already Gone." Yet, both are completely different songs -- just like "Feel Again" and "Dog Days are Over," it could be argued.

Speaking of creativity, Lady Gaga's latest business transactions include the perfume bottles, private letters, tailored clothes, and… toenail clippings of the late French singer Edith Piaf.  Gaga looks up to Piaf as a fellow soulmate: Piaf's strife as a rebel artist in her era is heartfelt and relatable to Gaga.  Furthermore, Gaga's representatives have been meeting with the Piaf estate about buying the rights to Piaf's first filmed performance and nine songs for samples in Gaga's next album.

Meanwhile, Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day is still scheduled to be in rehab, possibly until 2013.  That is forcing the band to cancel upcoming shows, including a scheduled appearance at New Orleans' Voodoo Music and Arts Experience. Tour dates beginning November 26th are also up in the air as "it's basically undetermined when he'll be back," according to Warner Bros. Records chairman Rob Cavallo.

Also, mechanical rights specialist Harry Fox Agency has named Michael S. Simon as its new president and CEO.  Simon wants to further improve HFA's traditional mechanical licensing business, providing new opportunities for the company and its over 46,000 publishers.

For those of you that are technologically fashion-savvy, Beats by Dr. Dre is releasing the Beats Pill and the Executive. The Pill is the first wireless speaker promising easy and instant Bluetooth audio, featuring all call functions and a battery with 7 hours of continuous play.  The Executive, already available for purchase online, has a sophisticated, stylish design with striking Active Noise Cancellation performance.
