Rocking the vote? Bruce Springsteen gave a free performance at a pro-Obama rally on Thursday. He sang several of his hits and a new song he wrote about the President before 3,000 people at a community college in Ohio. Bill Clinton, who also made an appearance, said Springsteen was "one of the coolest dudes I ever met and a guy who reflects our real American values."

Lady Gaga and Prince are going to be on the soundtrack of the upcoming film, The Great Gatsby. Kanye West, Jay-Z, and Jack White are already working on the album, so Gaga and Prince will provide another exciting collaboration.

The SXSW Music Conference just announced the winning panels for 2013.  Across more than 40 panels, topics explored include new revenue streams, band/brand collaborations, crowd funding, policy and international issues, and many more.

Aspiro, a streaming company focused on the WiMP music service, signed a new contract with Peter Tonstand to become the new CEO of the company at the start of December. The current CEO Gunnar Sellaeg is scheduled to depart at the end of the year.

Songza, the popular music streaming app that customizes a soundtrack for your life depending on the time of day, your activity, and mood, has reported more than one million registered users in Canada.  It's also the fastest-growing iOS platform in the region with over 900,000 users.

Research in Motion (RIM) has selected 7digital as its official partner for the BlackBerry 10.  7digital will be the music download provider for the music section of the BlackBerry App World, which will feature new releases, regional selections, independent artists, and more.

Separately, 7digital revealed a fresh funding round of $10 million.

It's beginning. Under development since July 2011, a new system will send copyright alerts or warnings to consumers accessing pirated movies, TV shows, and music, over the next two months.  Announced Thursday by The Center for Copyright Information, internet providers will send notices and if subscribers continue to access infringing content, they could face "mitigated measures" at the fifth alert.

Perhaps the most embarrassing iPhone app, Hum a Song was released last week. It's a game, similar to Draw Something, in which you hum clues to a song and send them to your friends. It's free so check it out!
