If you've got wealthy superfans - or, one wealthy superfan - the private show can be a good idea. But what about asking your fans to bid for the experience... on eBay? That's exactly what the Cape Breton, Canada-based Tom Fun Orchestra is doing for an exclusive, New Year's performance. Bids start at $2,000 Canadian (band 'shipping' not included...)

Its interesting. Innovative. Considering I don't know who they are, and the price tag is so high, it seems like it may not work for them. But imagine if a bigger band started bidding at 1 cent? That could be fun.
You're removing the promoter, and in turn, can become the promoter by bidding on the artist...
I wonder what the normal guarantee is for that band. I bet it's not 2k.

Great idea - we pioneered artist bookings on eBay at Sparkle Agency a few years ago ( DJ Lucci was the first pro artist to be booked on eBay) but it was very slow considering the input required so we dropped the concept after 18 months. Nice to see a different slant and hope this takes off!
