Walmart and Ticketmaster have expanded upon their existing partnership to feature 'Walmart Ticket Values,' which provides a pre-selected amount of tickets to major sporting, concert, and theatre events. Featuring tickets 'under 30 dollars,' Walmart and Walmart.com will allow customers to pick up their tickets at a nearby store.
Morrissey recently announced his early 2013 tour dates. The trek begins in Long Island on January 9th, and ends in Portland, Oregon on March 8th. Tickets will go on sale November 16th.
As a recent keynote speaker at the Global Social Enterprise Initiative, Bono congratulated the American public and President Obama for his re-election. During the address at Georgetown University, Bono also discussed the continuing economic challenges of this country, as determined by the self-described 'evidence-based activist.'
In Tennessee,a broader ticketing legislation issue is at hand. Supporters of the 'Fairness in Ticketing Act' say it is vital to eradicate scalpers, who buy tickets in bulk to resell them at a higher price to fans. Artists such as Eric Church believe this problem distances the fans from the musician.
BandPage is now stretching beyond its Facebook roots with BandPage Connect. Member musicians can now integrate profiles onto platforms and sites such as WordPress, Guitar Center, PledgeMusic, and more.
Moontoast, a growing company in social marketing, commerce, and analytics, has now signed an agreement with Universal Music Group (UMG) to expand UMG's direct-to-consumer offerings and services for fans. UMG will use Moontoast's platform to launch, promote, and sell goods through social services, including Facebook, artist websites, and artist fan sites.
Spotify has added Ireland and Luxembourg as the 16th and 17th countries on its market list. Ireland has a decently strong music market with 4.5 million people and Luxembourg is smaller with only 520,000 people. Yet, people are wealthy in the latter country with the second-best per-capita income in the world.
Bjork's Biophilia project was a collaboration with app developers, writers, inventors, musicians, and even scientists to explore the wonders of the universe surrounding music. It included live shows, educational projects, an album and 10 different apps. Guardian is now streaming her latest album, Bastards, a collection of mixes by Current Value, Death Grips, and more.
