Digital music platform and backend provider 7digital has just appointed Raoul Chatterjee as its new Senior Vice President of Music.  With over 20 years of experience in the music industry, Chatterjee is expected to expand and maintain relationships with record companies, publishers, managers, and artists.

The Rolling Stones kicked off their 50th anniversary tour this past Sunday night. Special guests Mary J. Blige and Jeff Beck took the stage, though early reports suggest that scalpers priced at least several hundred seats out of the market.

It is now confirmed that Steve Barnett is the new chairman-CEO of UMG's Capitol Music Group.  He will manage all EMI properties acquired by UMG, such as Capitol Records, Virgin Records, and Blue Note.

Beyonce is planning to direct a very "personal" documentary about herself, including concert footage and a "confessional interview." The film will air on HBO in 2013.

London-based ticketing site, TicketForEvent is now expanding to include entertainment and sports events, as well as develop its mobile business and prepare for a larger European push.  With most of its operations in Russia, Ukraine, and Turkey, it has raised more than $3 million since its launch last year.

Berklee College of Music recently updated and released its Music Careers in Dollars and Cents, a directory of salary ranges for music positions in performance, business, technology, and education in the US.  More here.

The Windish Agency has just roped experienced agents John Bongiorno and Ryan Farlow into the team. Both come from Pinnacle Entertainment.

Finally, Coldplay hinted at an extended vacation for the next few years. As they wrapped up their Australia tour in Brisbane, Chris Martin announced to the crowd that "this is the last big show for three years or so."
