What Else? VEVO+Roku, Lostprophets, Justice Collective, Evolution 101.7, Die Young, Last.fm...

VEVO is now integrated into Roku consoles, specifically across North America, UK, and Ireland.  The move places 50,000-plus HD music videos into a totally different viewing experience, and closely follows an integration between Spotify and TiVO.

Members of Lostprophets are expressing shock following some very serious and lurid accusations against Ian Watkins.  The lead singer has been accused of criminal charges related to raping children under 13, including a one-year-old girl.  Others outside the band have been implicated in those activities, but their names have not yet been released.

The lostprophets.com site has now been wiped, except for this message:

"Following charges made today against Ian Watkins, we find ourselves in a state of shock. We are learning about the details of the investigation along with you. It is a difficult time for us and our families, and we want to thank our fans for their support as we seek answers.

Jamie, Lee, Luke, Mike and Stu"

It looks like 12-12-12 isn't the only charitable release holding back from streaming services.  Across the pond, the Justice Collective's "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" is also being withheld, with one source pointing to a short-term window that ends on Christmas Eve.  The decision could produce a coveted, number one Christmas single.

Broadcast radio famously missed the EDM boat, a situation that speaks volumes on the power of the internet to now drive musical trends.  Which is why, years later, Clear Channel is transitioning its adult hits-focused WHBA to Evolution 101.7, with dance and electronica the hipper replacement.  Locals will recognize the call letters of the old FNX.

And, Ke$ha is now back-pedalling, forward-pedalling, or something like that on her ill-timed (and pulled) song, "Die Young".  After tweeting that she was "forced" to sing the lyrics of that song, Ke$ha offered this statement on her site, keshasparty.com.

"After such a tragic event I was feeling a lot of emotion and sadness when I said I was forced to sing some of the lyrics to Die Young. Forced is not the right word. I did have some concerns about the phrase "die young" in the chorus when we were writing the lyrics especially because so many of my fans are young and that's one reason why I wrote so many versions of this song. But the point of the song is the importance of living every day to the fullest and staying young at heart, and these are things I truly believe."

And, this happened a few days ago but is certainly worth mentioning.  Last.fm is cutting its radio services back once again, based on unworkable licensing terms.  That includes further restrictions in the US, UK, and Germany, and continued subscription walls in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and Brazil.  Last.fm radio services in all other countries are being discontinued.  The decision closely follows an expansion by Pandora into Australia and New Zealand, though the US-based Pandora has had difficulty expanding to any other countries (including the UK).
