In November TechCrunch reported that Microsoft was possibly buying Winamp and Shoutcast (Winamp’s radio streaming service). They are now revising that statement.
Radionomy has reportedly purchased Winamp and Shoutcast.
Radionomy aggregates 6,000 online radio stations and say they provide ”station producers with the tools and infrastructure to create, broadcast, promote and monetize their own online radio station completely free of charge“. In comparison, Shoutcast has 50,000 stations.
Winamp’s nameservers have been transferred to Radionomy and the deal will reportedly be finalized by January 3rd.
