Neil Young’s Pono Has Raised More Than $2 Million on Kickstarter…

Pono, the high-quality music player that Neil Young introduced Tuesday at SXSW (he’s actually been promoting it for years), has surpassed its Kickstarter goal in one day.

On Tuesday evening, the player had raised $600,000 of the $800,000 goal.

As of 6:30 PM PST on Wednesday, Pono has raised $2,077,759.

The campaign has 33 days to go and is raising money at an exponential rate.  Many of the Pono models are sold out or are close to selling out. You can still grab a chrome PonoPlayer with the laser-engraved signatures of Lenny Kravitz or Dave Matthews Band for $400, if that’s your cup of tea.

    I was a big fan of Neil Young’s idea since he outlined it a couple years ago or so. I wish the design was a little more practical though. That might get in the way of the product’s success. (Also useless if one keeps on listening through cheap earbuds).

    Wow, a soon-to-be relic signed by Neil Young! Congrats to all the Kickstarters who flushed their cash. Game over on this before it even took flight.
