Vimeo has just released a documentary called Europe in 8 Bits. The film covers the history and current state of chiptune, a genre of music created using video game systems such as the Game Boy, NES, Atari ST, Amiga and the Commodore 64.
I had limited knowledge of chiptune beyond artists like Unicorn Kid and Anamanaguchi. Now I feel like I have a better idea of what chiptune represents and the history behind it. Europe in 8 Bits definitely opened my eyes to this genre.
Europe in 8 Bits is one of the first films to be selected for Vimeo’s Audience Development Program. The program provides financial support and assistance to films that have raised over $10,000 through crowdfunding or have premiered at a specific film festival.
