Wu-Tang Fans Don’t Want “Some Rich Bastard” to Hoard the One-of-a-Kind Album…

photo-main

By now you’ve probably heard of Once Upon a Time in Shaolin, the new Wu-Tang Clan album. The album was recorded secretly and will tour museums before being auctioned off to the highest bidder.

The projected cost of going to the museum and listening to Once Upon a Time in Shaolin is between $30 and $50. Wu-Tang says they have already received a bid of $5 million for the album.

Wu-Tang Clan is doing this to give their music the value and recognition it deserves by treating it as art. This is great, but what about the fans that don’t have $50 to spare to listen to the album?

Two Wu-Tang fans have decided to take action. They’ve started a Kickstarter campaign, hoping to raise $5 million so they can bid and share the album with everyone who puts money in. As of April 17th 4:55 PM PST they’ve raised $639. There’s 52 days to go

It’s highly unlikely that they’ll reach $5 million, but maybe this will show Wu-Tang that their fans want “to enjoy an epic album instead of some uber rich bastard keeping it to himself like a collector’s item.

that’s fucking stupid. i wouldn’t start or contribute to a kickstarted for some money grubbing, self-centered elitists who clearly don’t value the people who got them to where they so fortunately are.

I think you are missing who started the kickstarter – it’s the fans who don’t think it should be an astronomical amount of money and don’t want an elitist to wholly own this album. And you don’t understand Wu-Tang if you think they are “money grubbing, self-centered elitists.”
