Executive Shuffles: NPR, VH1, Deezer, BMI, Big Machine, William Ovis…

The latest additions and departures…

Jarl Mohn is NPR‘s new President. Mohn was previously CEO of E! and is currently Chairman of Southern California Public Radio. NPR’s previous CEO, Gary Knell, left to become President and CEO of National Geographic.

VH1‘s EVP of Talent and Music Programming, Rick Krim, has stepped down, says The Hollywood Reporter. Krim says he is “exploring a bunch of options right now“.

Deezer‘s U.K. Managing Director, Mark Foster, is leaving the company. This comes shortly after CEO Axel Dauchez announced his upcoming departure.

Changes at BMI:

  • Richard Conlon, SVP of Corporate Strategy, Communications and New Media, is leaving the company. He will be pursuing “other opportunities in the our rapidly evolving world“.
  • Music Week‘s former Deputy News Editor, Tina Hart, has joined as Executive of Writer / Publisher Relations in Europe. Hart will recruit new songwriters and publishers, manage relationships between BMI and affiliates, establish and maintain relationships with executives and tastemakers, and work “alongside senior executives on special projects, including the BMI London Awards“.

Republic Records‘ SVP of Promotion and Artist Development, David Nathan, is moving over to Big Machine Label Group. Nathan will serve as a high-level liaison and will develop artists at Big Machine Records, Republic Nashville, Dot Records, and the Valory Music Co.

In other industry news…

Composer William Olvis recently passed away from throat cancer. Olvis composed for film and TV, and composed the theme song for “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman”.
