Moogfest Will Now Be Held Every Two Years…

Moogfest has announced that the festival will become a biennial event. The most recent incarnation of the festival took place at the end of April in Asheville, North Carolina.

From 2004 – 2008, Moogfest took place in Manhattan. In 2010 and 2011, the festival moved to Asheville.  2014 saw the return of Moogfest, and the next event will happen in 2016 in Asheville.

Moog spent $3 million on the 2014 festival, and ended up losing $1.5 million on it.

Mike Adams, President of Moog Music Inc., told the Asheville Citizen Times:

“We had to look at the financial health of the company. We couldn’t put the level of investment into it each and every year…”

However, Adams claims that finances weren’t the deciding factor in the scheduling decision. He says they would hold the event biennially even if they had more money to work with, as 10 months is not enough time for Moog to plan the festival.

That’s a shame. The lineup this year was awesome.
