Beats Music CEO Ian Rogers Is Now Head of iTunes Radio…

beatsrogers

Apple’s $3 billion Beats acquisition has been great for some and not so great for others. Universal Music made $404 million from the deal. Meanwhile, 200 Beats employees are about to lose their jobs.

The acquisition has been a pretty sweet deal for Beats executives, who are now Apple executives.

Beats Music CEO Ian Rogers is adding “Head of iTunes Radio” to his resume, according to a recent Wall Street Journal Report. Rogers will simultaneously run both (competing) music services in an attempt “to create cohesion.

Cohesion and competing in the same sentence? Uh, yeah…that won’t work.

Does anyone know what Rogers actually does/did that’s worthy of recognition? None of his positions seem to have resulted in any remarkable achievements. Except for the ability to land a new job.

But I could be wrong. Anyone?

Well, he was the CEO of Beats Music, which as part of Beats overall got acquired for several billion. Is that not enough?

Well it means he was certainly lucky. Clearly, Iovine was in charge there and Ian did not create the value.
