Indie Shuffle: Mute, Infectious Music, New Order, Nicky Da B, Ejecta…

unnamed

The latest news from indie labels and artists.

BMG Chrysalis U.K. has acquired Infectious Music. Financial Times says the deal is worth between £5 million and £10 million ($8.24 million and $16.47 million). Infectious will move into BMG’s offices. Infectious’ roster includes Alt-J, Cloud Control, Temper Trap, and Local Natives.

New Order have signed with record label Mute for their next release. New Order says: “Mute has a superb roster of artists and a history that complements our own. In many ways joining the label feels like we are coming home, returning to our independent roots.” Mute’s current roster includes Erasure, Goldfrapp, and Swans and the label is distributed by ADA.

Bounce artist Nicky Da B has reportedly died at the age of 24, according to scattered Twitter reports. The news has yet to be confirmed, but unfortunately seems to be true. Nicky Da B is most known for his collaboration with Diplo on “Express Yourself”.

The band Ejecta is being forced to change their name after receiving a cease and desist letter from the DJ Ejeca. Curious, since “ejecta” is a real word but “ejeca” isn’t. Ejecta are asking fans to send them suggestions for new names.
