Ticket Text Shopping Its Latest Round, $1 Million Estimated

Plenty of VCs won't go near a music-related startup, based on aggressive content costs and low success ratios.  But not all startups are created equal, and not all are built around overbearing
content licensing costs.  One example is Ticket Text, a company aiming to disrupt the way venues, artists, and promoters sell access to live events.

In April of last year, the Dublin-based Ticket Text Ltd pulled a 350,000 euro ($491,365) round from government agency Enterprise Ireland.  That fits the current mood among many investors, and startups are often pressed to prove their models with lean overhead.

But Ticket Text is pushing beyond its initial footprint of mobile and email-focused, paperless ticketing, and now preparing to launch a white-label mobile ticketing solution in March.  According to details shared with Digital Music News, that launch is happening alongside another funding round valued at roughly 750,000 euros ($1.05 million), and a percentage of that target has already been filled.

The upcoming service, to be called Ticket ABC, will also revolve around mobile devices and paperless delivery.  Ticket ABC will allow anyone to sell tickets, and also tap a venue management backend solution that includes operational aspects like customer service, refunds, complimentary tickets, and other details.  That means that a venue, for example, can sell tickets directly and own the customer relationship.  Ticket Text is hoping the timing is right on that sort of independence, especially as Ticketmaster and Live Nation edge closer to marriage.
