Live@Midem: IODA Raises Its Classical Brow, Again... (#midem)

Is classical a dying genre? The graying of classical audiences has been discussed for years, and remains a concern for major orchestras.  But from the perspective of digital, that hardly matters - especially for those tapping into the dedicated and paying aficionado crowd.

Classical is actually a top-selling genre for IODA, and at Midem this weekend, the distributor announced another major partnership.  The Philadelphia Orchestra is trusting its digital distribution to IODA, and joining an IODA catalog that already includes the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO), San Francisco Symphony Orchestra (SSO), Harmonia Mundi, Hyperion Records, and the New York Philharmonic.

In turn, that partner group is now being boosted by an IODA alliance with InstantEncore.com, a company that brings a range of classical-specific publishing and distribution tools.
