The Grammy Awards are now approaching, and YouTube is playing a serious role in the action.  The Recording Academy tapped YouTube to facilitate a major talent search, one designed to pluck instrumentalists for a Foo Fighters orchestra.  Fans have now chosen 15 performers, of which 3 have been narrowed for a leading role.

The tie-in, called "My Grammy Moment," is designed to generate excitement online ahead of the awards show.  And the action goes straight up to event itself - users are currently voting among the three finalists until 5:59 pm PCT on February 10th - just hours before the show.  Users are currently voting on youtube.com/mygrammymoment, though fans can also text their favorites.

My Grammy Moment is being sponsored by Chase and Gibson Guitar, and John Paul Jones will direct the orchestral group.  The three finalists are Ann Marie Calhoun, Brian Fitzgerald, and Tara Klein.
