There are lots of ways to measure hard work in this business. But the road is often where the blood, sweat and tears come out. And according to data compiled by Songkick and shared with Digital Music News, these were the artists putting in the longest hours and most miles away from home last year.

Labels no longer sign artists without a good fan base. Can you work as hard as these bands without the same pay?

There is too much emphasis on touring here. Writing and recording is harder, unless you aren't the guy who is writing the songs.

w0w iT s0uNdz like U TOTALLY kN0w fRom EXPERIENCE ur like a GAWD/genius. wHich of th3se bAndz r u in again?

And what do you think they do when they're not touring? Writing and recording methinks!

aaawwwkkk Wednesday, March 09, 2011
oh hellllllls nah, where's The Maine on this list?!

@TeamMikeGentile Wednesday, March 09, 2011
It's amazing to see Hey Monday on here. They definitely worked their asses off in 2010. Amazing (:

Big Keif Wednesday, March 09, 2011
Dennis, you the man!

GP Wednesday, March 09, 2011
Mayday Parade, seriously? Their shit is weak! The reason they are working so hard is because Jason Lancaster left the band and took all his writing skills with him, therefor that clown of a "lead singer" has to sit there and rethink of former girlfriends that broke his heart to make up some new tunes. This list is a joke! Anyways, go buy Every Avenue's album Picture Perfect, it has some mean licks and killer riffs!

-.- Thursday, March 10, 2011
have you heard maydays shit? theyre obviously on there for a reason. if you love jason so much, help Go radio get on the list, because in case you missed it, they arent there you ignorant fuck.

agreed Thursday, March 10, 2011
Go Radio is fucking bullshit. saw them on fearless friends tour and i thought i was gonna fall asleep. mayday > go radio anyday.

amen asian face, amen Thursday, March 10, 2011
Go Radio= garbage. Saw them at fearless friends tour and I would of rather listened to cat's making love outside my window then them. Jason's voice is only good when it's accompanied by Derek, other then that, it's crap! Mayday Parade deserves to be on here! Go Radio needs to end there music career! CAN I GET AN AMEN!?

-.- Thursday, March 10, 2011
AMEN! Go Radio needs ALLLL the fucking attention they can get. Mayday is talented, and even if you don't like the lyrics, Derek can sing and the rest of the band are amazing musicians. So if you wanna talk shit, know your shit. K? Ignorant fuck.

GP = idiot Friday, March 11, 2011
Have you noticed that AFTER Jason left, people started to like their music a lot more? Have you notived that MAYDAY had a headlining tour, NOT Go Radio? Maybe you need glasses, or a brain.

Alex Wednesday, March 09, 2011
I think For Today should be on this list.. They never stop touring.

@yannabeau Thursday, March 10, 2011
amazing list! Some of these artists i figured would make it but some are total suprises. I think indie or major, you just gotta work the road

Doesn't seem to be a complete list, by any means,e.g Frank Turner (UK artist) 2010 did 206 shows (no indication of miles travelled, though looking at http://frank-turner.com/blog/past-gigs/ it would appear to be many). Anyone else got some nominations?

Patrick Tape Fleming Thursday, March 10, 2011
My band the Poison Control Center just played their 166 show of tour last night, so we should be on this list!

An interesting graph today. I had a feeling that the Black Eyed Peas should
be on this list, given how much they tour. I haven't done any real
calculations but on Songkick is looks like BOP played 132 shows last year
(many of them international).

Jon Thursday, March 10, 2011
Cowboy Mouth (New Orleans based rock band) 94,000 miles (not including
40 flights)
They played 139 shows in 133 days.

What about a list of the LAZIEST bands on the planet? We could measure this in terms of weed smoked (in ounces) and the lowest amount of miles traveled.

Do they take into account Winston Mccall's (Lead singer of Parkway Drive, best band on the universe) voice box and how hard that works on each show! Its Brutal!

@shaneisclassy Tuesday, March 15, 2011
Breathe Carolina's been a busy last two years and Ive seen em like 7 times in last 2 years. they deserve it! And so does Mayday Parade!
Every Avenue is so bomb too! Like ive seen em about 3 or 4 times. amazing!

gloria80 Wednesday, March 16, 2011
what about Green Day? they did 179 shows all over the world. Not to mention they also put on, maintained, and starred in a musical on broadway. And did projects with their side bands. And are putting out a live album.

Very interesting. Made me think of Iron Maiden's Flight 666 tour from a couple years ago:
'Over the 45 day period the band played 23 concerts to over 500,000 fans in 11 countries, flying close to 50,000 miles.'
