Gaga + Rock Band? Let the Games Begin...

Lady Gaga is now joining Rock Band, an unconventional pairing that steers wide of the typical in-game gig.  Of course, Gaga is hardly the typical rock star, and Rock Band designers MTV Games and Harmonix will be forced to stretch the instrumentation a bit.  But Gaga herself is just the beginning; the Gaga selection also includes a cover of 'Poker Face' by South Park's Eric Cartman.

Sound like fun?  This is certain to please crowds, and the songs are available for download next week across Xbox, PS3, and Wii systems.  The "Lady Gaga Pack 01" will include "Bad Romance," "Just Dance," "Monster," and "Poker Face," all recognizable hits from the multi-platinum album, The Fame.

Whether that sparks fresh interest in Rock Band remains unclear, though Gaga certainly draws crowds.  After the initial launch of Vevo, Lady Gaga grabbed about 20 percent of the viewing action, a number that has since ebbed.

Meanwhile, MTV and Harmonix are juicing the content channels.  Just recently, the pair launched its Rock Band Network Music Store, open to any aspiring band.
