London-based XL Recordings is now revamping its website by incorporating information from a broad range of sources. In fact, according to the label, the site "simply sucks in news, photos, videos, tour announcements, diaries and gossip" from official websites, MySpace pages, and other areas.
The destination, at xlrecordings.com, also "sucks" content updates from YouTube, Flickr, BBC, NME, and Pitchfork. The feed-based, tentacled approach makes more self-contained label sites seem stodgy, though the initial XL page is light on interface and overall presentation. "In an age when YouTube, MySpace and Flickr are now far more relevant than any current label site, this new model will allow XL to present a massively user-friendly summary of the most up-to-date content from across the web," the group noted.
The site was officially announced Wednesday. XL artists include M.I.A., Vampire Weekend, Sigur Ros and The White Stripes.
