Imagen Music, not EMI Group, will purchase Boosey & Hawkes after all, according to deal points surfacing this weekend. Imagen, a joint venture involving CP Masters and ABP, is grabbing the massive publisher for 126 million pounds ($248 million).
In total, Boosey boasts a catalog of roughly 116,000 works, including a large collection of classical masterpieces. Imagen just recently purchased the European publishing catalogs of Zomba, 19 Music and BBC from Universal Music Group, part of a government-mandated divestiture. European regulators forced the sale as a condition for an approved buyout of BMG Music Publishing.
Boosey & Hawkes was previously owned by Hg Capital. Rumors circulated on a possible 100 million pound buyout by EMI in March.
