Converse is now planning artist-branded kicks featuring The Grateful Dead, The Doors, The Beatles, and Kurt Cobain. The tip comes from the Daily Swarm, which has been collecting information on the upcoming lineup. The tie-ins will help to celebrate the one-hundredth anniversary of the company, and will be incorporated within the upcoming Fall 2008 Footwear Collection.
The Doors inclusion was confirmed by Jeff Jampol of the Doors Music Co., who outlined campaign details to the Swarm. According to Jampol, The Doors will be featured on the Jack Purcell lineup. "We thought long and hard about this, and I gotta say, Converse Jack Purcells and rock go hand-in-hand, and have ever since the mid-sixties," Jampol said. The other artists appear to be branding other lines, though Converse has not confirmed those details.
