Major Label Days Over for Tori Amos; Indie Path Begins

The major label system lost another star this week.  Tori Amos has now exited Epic Records, a division of Sony BMG, after a six-year, three-album relationship.  "It is time for us as artists to stop being dependent, dependent on any system that has become undependable," Amos wrote on her website.

The next steps are open for Amos, a front-of-tail artist with a considerable following.  The next album could become the basis for another sales experiment, and continue a path blazed by ex-major label artists Radiohead and Trent Reznor.
