MediaNet+TuneCore: The Puzzle Pieces Start Coming Together...

Just last week, MediaNet Digital unveiled its Media Selector, an easily embeddable and customizable store geared towards independent artists.  But what if the artist's music was missing?  Now, a partnership with Tunecore adds the critical content component.

MediaNet is currently focusing its model on decentralized content distribution, and smartly leveraging its major label partnerships to a range of third parties.  So, instead of slogging through difficult licensing and setup processes, partner sites can alternatively tap MediaNet for digital music hosting, delivery, and licensing details.

Media Selector lets any artist create a playable ecommerce widget, and then position that widget across numerous sites.  But, for smaller artists whose content is not already in place, TuneCore will handle the uploading and distribution. "If you're an indie artist you can upload your content to TuneCore and they deliver the content to MediaNet," CEO Alan McGlade told Digital Music News on Wednesday. "Then, you can use our web components like Media Selector to sell content on your own website or another website."

Additionally, existing MediaNet partners will enjoy a much larger content selection.  This is a done deal, though it appears that TuneCore is still layering the MediaNet option into its site.  More details on pricing and packaging ahead.
