Usher has achieved phenomenal attention on his latest single, "Love In This Club," though the underlying beats appear to be lifted from GarageBand. The controversy actually dates back to early April, when a sleuthing at-home producer noticed that the song contained stock samples offered by Apple. The finished track was created by high-profile producer Polow da Don.
On YouTube, user "Jeff" showed that the defining sound of "Love In This Club" is simply a mixture of two GarageBand stock samples. The sound matches are unmistakable, and serve to undermine the credibility of the producer. In subsequent comments to rap site SOHH, Polow denied that the beats were lifted from GarageBand, though he did allude to another unnamed source. "That's not where I got them from, but they're definitely in there," the producer admitted.
