Just who will EMI Music Group chief Guy Hands tap to head the recording division? That has been the source of speculation all week, though initial information pointed to packaged goods executive Elio Leoni Sceti. Others are also reportedly under consideration, part of a small candidate class.
In terms of structure, the label group is expected to maintain separate recording and publishing heads. Currently, EMI Music Publishing is helmed by Chairman and Chief Executive Roger Faxon, whose position and entire division remain mostly unaffected by a massive, recording-focused downsizing. The company has been chopping and restructuring across nearly every recorded unit, part of a deep reduction that intensified last week.
