Rupert Murdoch is not interested in buying Twitter, and not
interested in selling MySpace. The News Corp. chief made both clear at
the Allen & Co. Media and Technology Conference in Sun Valley, Idaho this week.
And
the broader outlook at Sun Valley? Some moguls offered optimism,
others had trouble seeing any bottom ahead. Murdoch called the mood "very bearish" during his interview.
Third
time the charm for three-strikes? In France, a third version of a
hobbling three-strikes bill passed the French Senate 189-142. The
previous version failed to satisfy constitutional due process and other
judicial principles.
The best-selling album in the US this week? That would be the Now 31 compilation, which shifted 169,261 units according to Nielsen Soundscan. That was followed by Brad Paisley's American Saturday Night (129,527 units) and Rob Thomas' Cradlesong (121,511). Those were the only three to clear 100,000 units.
On
Wall Street, the Dow was mostly even. Warner Music Group gained 4.15
percent to $5.27, Ticketmaster (TKTM) and Live Nation (LYV) edged
