Pandora streamed 3.3 million songs through the iPhone this past weekend, according to numbers surfacing Wednesday. Pandora, a provider of custom-crafted streaming radio stations, smartly integrated itself into the iPhone App Store alongside a number of other music-related products. The total includes usage on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
In total, 200,000 customized stations have been created by iPhone users, and Pandora is now the 4th most popular download within the App Store. That could signal a breakthrough for mobile internet radio, a format mostly chained to the desk until recently. Over the weekend, iPhone users grabbed 10 million application downloads, part of a growing iPhone ecosystem.
