The image of Jimi Hendrix lives long after his death, even in avatar form.  On Thursday, Activision and RedOctane announced a deal that will place the likeness of Hendrix into upcoming versions of Guitar Hero.  According to the Associated Press, Guitar Hero players will soon be able to create characters that resemble Hendrix, thanks to an arrangement with the Seattle-based Hendrix Experience.

Additionally, Hendrix songs "The Wind Cries Mary" and "Purple Haze" will be added into the upcoming Guitar Hero World Tour, according to the report.  Specifically, a live version of "Purple Haze," recorded in 1969 at the San Diego Sports Arena, will be slotted.  The expanded game, which will include drums and a microphone, will go head-to-head against a similarly multi-instrumental Rock Band
