Apple shifted more than one million, second-generation iPhones during its first three days.  That helped to lift Pandora, now the fourth most popular application on the device.  The customized radio provider reported that more than 3.3 million tracks were streamed by iPhone users during the initial weekend.

The upcoming Rock Band 2 will contain an exclusive track from Guns N' Roses, as well as content from AC/DC and Bob Dylan.  Developer Harmonix indicated that the game will carry a catalog of more than 500 songs by year end.  The second-edition is slated to hit stores in September.

Guitar Hero also added critical rockers to its mix this week.  Metallica is planning to release its upcoming album within the game, simultaneously with traditional retailers.  Guitar Hero also successfully licensed a pair of Jimi Hendrix tracks, alongside the rights to use the image and likeness of the iconic guitar god.

EMI Music revealed a turnaround second quarter, thanks to deep cutbacks and a Coldplay release.

Also this week, the European Commission mandated a pan-European licensing terrain, one that will eliminate country-by-country negotiations.

And eMusic is planning a major site overhaul starting next week, one that will include a number of 2.0-friendly features.
