Perhaps the phrase 'direct-to-fan' has been a bit overused, though bands are well-advised to establish tight fan relationships. Indeed, that is a major focal point for a number of startups, whether Polyphonic, ReverbNation, or TopSpin.
Now, the organizers behind South-by-Southwest and MixMatchMusic are showing a short film dedicated to building direct-to-fan relationships. The film, titled Remix... A New Way to Engage Fans, focuses on the remix as a bonding device. The 10-minute flick, available here, 'goes live' online Tuesday at noon central time (1 pm EST, 10 am PCT, 6 pm GMT).
