Just who will helm the upcoming, MySpace Music initiative?  Earlier, MySpace pointed to a September rollout, though insiders continue describe that timetable as aggressive.  Meanwhile, the initiative remains leaderless, though a number of possible candidates are surfacing.  "CEO Chris DeWolfe and COO Amit Kapur have been interviewing people since late 2007," TechCrunch's Michael Arrington recently noted.

According to Arrington, the top candidates are Jim Bankoff (Senior Advisor with Providence Equity Partners); Michael Bloom (SVP & GM, Digital Media at MTV); and Jim Pitaro (Vice President and General Manager of Yahoo Sports).  Former Yahoo Music chiefs David Goldberg (Entrepreneur-in-Residence, Benchmark Capital) and Ian Rogers (CEO, Topspin Media) reportedly passed on the post.
