Warner Music Group boosted digital sales during the most recent quarter, though broader losses continued. For the three-month period ending June 30th, digital revenues moved to $166 million, or 20 percent of total revenues, a 39 percent bump from the year-ago period. That is an encouraging increase, though the company suffered a drop of $9 million during the period, part of a continued slosh in the red.
Actually, the quarterly loss represents an improvement over a year-ago shortfall of $17 million, though the larger picture remains sour. For the nine-month period ending June 30th, total losses reached $62 million, a massive drop from a comparable, year-ago tally of $26 million.
During the quarter, overall revenues slid one percent to $848 million, measured on a constant-currency basis. Operating income from continuing operations moved upward 11 percent to $51 million.
