Sirius XM Interoperable Radios... Inside One Year

When will Sirius truly live side-by-side with XM Satellite within a receiver?  Combined, Sirius XM players will hit the market within twelve months, according to combined company chief Mel Karmazin.  That is an FCC-imposed deadline, though Karmazin promised something quicker.  "So we have an FCC deadline,"  Karmazin said during a recent investor call.  "You should assume that we will be a lot closer, a lot faster than that deadline."

That means that blended devices will not hit markets by Christmas, though Karmazin indicated that a-la-carte, cross-service options will emerge on existing receivers within months.  The guidance follows a number of quick, post-merger integration moves, including programming staffing placements.  Broader, programming decisions are expected over the near-term.
